France Telecom owns both Wanadoo and mobile network operator Orange, and said the Wanadoo name will be scrapped from early next year in the UK and across its other European domains.
A spokesperson for Wanadoo said that the ISP's existing two million plus UK customers will be able to retain their @wanadoo email adresses after the rebrand.
However, new customers will receive a new @orange.co.uk address.
This is the second time in recent years that the ISP has undergone a name change. In April 2004 the firm changed its name from Freeserve at a cost of some £20m.
France Telecom has declined to comment on how much the rebrand will cost, although some reports have put the figure at around £133.8m.
The France Telecom name will remain for the company's core fixed line operations, and continue as the name of the parent company.
