Guardian ties with LoveFilm for DVD rentals

The new Sofa Cinema service enables  Guardian Unlimited users to rent DVDs online from LOVEFiLM.com's catalogue for a fixed monthly fee.

 

The site also features DVD reviews and ratings from Guardian Unlimited users, alongside a database of 28,500 films, a Pick of the Week and browse categories.

 

Sofa Cinema will be promoted across the Guardian Unlimited network as well as in the Guardian and the Observer newspapers.

 

Every new Guardian Unlimited member will receive a 30-day free trial and two cinema tickets. The service includes free postage, no fees for late returns and the ability to cancel at any time.

 

Simon Morris, LoveFilm marketing director, said: “We’re delighted to have launched this service with the UK’s largest and most knowledgeable online film community.  It’s also a further great endorsement of what we have achieved in becoming the biggest and best online DVD rental service. ”

 

Guardian Unlimited attracts 10 million unique users.per month, generating more than 100 million page impressions.

 

LoveFilm passed the 100,000 subscriber markin March and claims to acount for more than 6% of the entire UK DVD rental market.
