Heralding the new resurgence of the digital media and marketing
industry in the UK, The Imperatives played host to over 500 of the UK's
top digital professionals.
In a totally new format, esteemed judges created a shortlist from the several hundred submitted entries. That shortlist was then put to a secure online vote which began at midnight Tuesday 22nd February and finished at midnight Wednesday March 23rd 2005.
Last night at the Cafe de Paris nightclub in London the winners were honoured in a huge party, hosted by digital industry veteran and stand-up comedian, Robert Hamilton.
Winning the Special Lifetime Achievement award was Andy Hobsbawm, chairman of Agency.com, and early player in the digital media industry in the UK.
A founding director of leading British new media company Online Magic which merged with Agency.com in 1997, Hobsbawm opened Online Magic’s New York office in 1994, establishing the first international Internet production and services operation. A weekly columnist about the new economy for the Financial Times and named one of the Top 50 Internet Professionals in the UK, under Agency.com last year he published “10 Years On: The State of the Internet a decade after Mosaic”.
The list of other winners and finalists, and pictures from the awards ceremony on 30th March, at London's Café de Paris, are here.
