The "site":http://www.virginmegastores.co.uk re-launch, set for early April, includes new design interface, alongside an improved search engine and a user review section.

Customers will also be able to control their accounts with extra tools, such as order tracking, online cancellation and multiple address management.

The site also allows users to send online gift vouchers to friends and family.

Kathryn Leak, head of new media for Virgin Megastores, said: “We have given our website its first overhaul for nearly 3 years. The changes to the site also mark a step closer to the launch of the Virgin Digital service in the UK later on this year.”

The company said it has almost doubled its total online registered customer base, reporting an 84% increase year-on-year, in the last 12 months to 28 March 2005.

Over the Christmas 2004 period, for the 12 weeks ending 10 January, the site saw a 50.3% year-on-year increase, helped by strong sales of DVD box sets, with an average of 40% increase in traffic year-on-year.
