Dmail launches in UK

Digital mail can potentially stop the problems of spam and viral infection, while providing a faster medium for accessing and exchanging large files such as music, images and film.

The market for digital mail is very much in an evolutionary state, with only a very few service providers currently entering. The most notable digital mail service is Google’s gmail, which is currently being beta tested ready for launch later this year or early next.

Initially, dmail is offering three products, which can be used globally. Wide World, for a single user, One World is a closed group package aimed at friends or family groups, and Corporate World, which is aimed at the larger enterprise-wide or world-wide corporate communications.

Dmail said prices vary between £15 per year for a single user and £75 per year for a group of 25 dmail addresses.

Dorset inventor, Peter Jackson, who developed dmail, said: "MSN and Yahoo are viewing digital mail as a significant threat and have already reacted by increasing the storage size available on their email accounts, but this only addresses one benefit of digital mail - the real battle is yet to come."
