Agency.com buys Exile

The merger will integrate Exile on Seventh with Agency.com's iTraffic, which will be rebranded into an online marketing practice within the company called the "Advertising Group," by the end of 2004.

A spokesperson for the company said Agency has decided retain the iTraffic name in the UK due to a "stroger brand presence", coupled with certain "client conflicts" between Agency.com and iTraffic customers.

iTraffic's UK clients include BA, Wanadoo, cahoot and an "undisclosed major new charity client".

Alan Burgis, president of Exile on Seventh, will take on the role of senior vice president and report directly to Don Scales, president and COO of Agency.com.

Today's news follows the Interactive Advertising Bureau's recent report that Internet advertising revenue reached a record $2.3bn in the first quarter of this year, up 38.9% over the first quarter of 2003.

"Online advertising is the fastest growing area of interactive marketing and a core part of our business," said Don Scales, president and COO of Agency.com. "However, strategic decisions like this are not made lightly. Alan and his team are a perfect match for Agency.com - both culturally and professionally. Together, we expect great things to come for the company and our clients."
