PlusNet slashes broadband prices again

Today's launch of 'Broadband Home Lite', a '10x faster than dial up' always-on product, comes in the wake of BT's announcement that it is cutting its migration prices to other ISPs and is £3 cheaper a month than Wanadoo's new 512k package, launched this week. However, unlike Wanadoo, PlusNet charges customers to activate the service - £58.75 for those on an annual contract or £70.50 for a monthly contract - and customers will also need to buy a modem, which it offers at £46.13.

PlusNet has also announced today there will be no charge for those moving to the new product from other broadband providers for a limited introductory period.

Marketing director Marco Potesta said: "For those unhappy with their current overpriced provider, we're offering a completely free and easy way to move to PlusNet. All we need to know is your CBUK code number and we have full details of how to get this at our website."

The service will have a monthly data allowance of 1Gb, which PlusNet claims gives "plenty of room" for downloading music and files, shopping, email and online games.

Earlier this week, PlusNet announced it was reducing the prices of its entry-level broadband product dslConnect by £1 per month across its range.
