'Orange Wednesdays' is a three-year initiative between Orange and UK Cinemas with a focus on using mobile technology to grow the UK cinema audience.

Orange customers will be offered an Orange Wednesdays 241 cinema ticket voucher, which entitles them to take a guest to the cinema for FREE every Wednesday in cinemas across the UK. To obtain the 'virtual ticket' customers will text FILM to 241, speed dial 241 or visit the Orange World portal.

On top of Orange Wednesdays, the mobile giant has also expanded the film channel on the Orange World WAP portal offering features like, access to streaming of trailers, cinemas listings, cinema finder and access to information on films released in the UK.

Orange partnered with technology partner Flytxt a complete the wirefree mobile ticketing solution.

Vivienne Adshead, head of commercial content delivery for Orange Multimedia Operations said: "This activity allows more than 13 million Orange customers to engage in movies on a variety of levels. Whether it's deciding what to see, or where, previewing a movie or asking another Orange customer for their review of the film, or whether it's getting your 2 for 1 tickets."
