WebtraffIQ and Usability Company join forces

The partnership says it will combine best practices from both respective industries to provide clients with a bundled offering.

Historically, WebtraffIQ has concentrated more on providing companies with information on traffic patterns and user habits, while The Usability company has focused on the way in which visitors experience a website.

However, WebtraffIQ, also had a usability analysis and consulting service, which will be bolstered by calling on knowledge, advice and input from Usability's consultants, according to the company.

Usability will also use WebtraffIQ's experience in web analytics "to deliver more quantitive and relevant accurate data to support qualitative decision for off and online measurement."

The partnership was formed after the two companies worked together on a proposal for a best practice organisation. The companies also came into contact with each through working with Eyetracker, a company that analyses the way people look at web pages by measuring eye movements.

Website usability is rising higher up the corporate agenda and as a result is witnessing more market activity than former years.

For example, last September two former executives from Virgin Money left the firm to form Foolproof Services, a UK company focused on making sure websites are accessible to disabled people. And just this week, AOL UK said it would draw on Mencap's expertise to help make the AOL service more accessible for people with learning disabilities.

"With the increase in calls by government and the private sector for the accessibility of websites for the disabled, careful attention to navigation, efficiency and effectiveness of websites will be critical for companies and organisations that want to stay ahead of the game," said Marcos Richardson, European Director at WebtraffIQ.
