Telewest Broadband has announced several enhancements for its blueyonder pay-as-you-go and surf unlimited dial-up internet customers. The first enhancement is support for the V.92 protocol, which allows home surfers to make and receive calls whilst on the internet, known as Modem-on-Hold. The company claims that this improvement will also reduce the initial connection time by up to 50 - ending some of the frustration long-associated with dial-up internet access. Other enhancements include a dial-up instant support tool aimed at helping blueyonder customers diagnose and fix problems themselves, and the introduction of a single dial-up number, designed to optimise network performance and capacity and ensure calls are automatically routed to the best available POP exchange.
