The two companies have exchanged contracts and the deal, valued at £212,500, is expected to complete within three weeks.

MyPoints has about 410,000 fully opted-in UK members, which it targets by way of "highly targeted email and web-based offers" to help businesses identify, acquire and retain customers.

Individuals that respond to these offers are then rewarded by way of 'incentive points', which can be spent on high street gift vouchers from brands including Argos, Asda, Boots, Dixons and Marks and Spencer.

Themutual.net MD, Ben Heaton, said: "MyPoints is a very similar business to our own in that we both understand the benefit of rewarding the relationship with our members.

"With the acquisition of MyPoints themutual.net will have fully opted-in rights to approximately 850,000 members and will, in my opinion, make us the premier reward site in the UK."
