RealNetworks has today completed the acquisition of Listen.com, which operates the increasingly popular Rhapsody digital music service. Real paid $17.3m and 4.1m shares for Listen, at a time when the digital music industry is flowering. The latest figures from Rhapsody are promising - it delivered more than 12 million songs over the internet to its users in July, some 13% higher than in June. Rhapsody has an audio database containing more than 350,000 tracks, with about a quarter of a million available for download so users can burn them onto CDs.
