BT has signed an agreement with Airpath Wireless to enable subscribers of BT OpenZone wireless broadband to access the service while travelling in the US. The company said that OpenZone customers would initially be able to access 350 of Airpath's 1,500 Wi-Fi access points throughout the US. It added that, together with other roaming agreements already in place, BT Openzone customers would soon be able to use over 1,710 Wi-Fi access points worldwide, including the 700 sites now available in the UK. Separately, BT has also joined the Wireless Broadband Alliance, which aims to increase the adoption of wireless Wi-Fi/WLAN services globally. "Being a member will ensure that our customers have reliable and secure wireless internet access abroad from operators who deliver services, which users can trust," said David Hughes, BT's director of mobility.
