AOL retires Connie

AOL UK is to ditch Connie, the company's virtual mascot, who has represented AOL in television and print advertisements for the past five years. Initially dreamt up to help inexperienced web users feel at ease when logging on to the internet, Connie has now passed her sell-by date, now that the broadband revolution is well underway. The company is currently plugging AOL 8.0 in its latest campaign, where Connie is notable by her absence. AOL UK now has two million subscribers.
