New business broadband service launches

The company's new datastream 500+ package includes a 512Kbps self-installation ADSL service, including features such as virus protection and spam filtering, and storage space for up to 1.5GB of data.

Customers will need to get an ADSL modem and pay a £70 installation fee to cover the cost of upgrading their telephone line to broadband.

The low cost of datastream 500+ will make the product very appealing to small businesses for whom high-speed access and data storage are important issues.

GDV UK was set up in October last year as the UK distribution and management arm of US-based Global Data Vault Corp, which focuses on providing storage and back-up services.

The new datastream 500+ product represents the company's first move into the broadband market, and it plans to follow this up with more combined broadband and storage packages in the UK in the near future, which could include bundling a 2Mbps ADSL connection with 6GB storage space.
