T-Mobile ditches Microsoft smartphone

Mobile phone operator T-Mobile has shelved plans to launch a Microsoft-powered smartphone because of continued technical problems with the phone, according to reports. The company said in February that it expected to roll out the smartphones in its major markets this summer. However, a spokesperson told Reuters today that it would not be pursuing the project for the time being. The news is like to come as a massive blow to Microsoft, which has so far struggled to convince manufacturers and operators of its mobile credentials.
