Web saves SMEs £4bn a year

UK small businesses are saving over £4bn per year just by being online, according to new independent research conducted by Continental Research. Nearly 70% of small businesses in the UK have invested in the internet, each spending about £4,800 on developing internet-enabled systems, but are getting a much bigger return on their investment. The research reveals that each company is saving up to 5 man-hours per day by using the internet and internet-enabled systems, which based on the average hourly wage this equates to a potential saving of £14,500 per company per year. The research was commissioned by forthcoming UK Internet World event, run by Penton Media Europe.
