mm02 announced it has now delivered its advanced TETRA-based emergency communications service, Airwave, to ten UK police forces. The digital radio system, which cannot be monitored by outsiders, allows the police to communicate securely throughout England, Scotland and Wales. mm02 said it was investing heavily in the roll-out of the system as a result of the heightened national security and surveillance against possible terrorist attacks. It will deliver Airwave to a further 26 police forces over the next 12 months, including the Metropolitan Police, and to all 53 police forces by the end of 2005 as part of a £2.9bn UK government contract.
