The service, which allows users to record music being played in a pub or club on their mobiles and have the track name and artist texted back, has added Songmail, a system that means text messages can be sent to friends, pointing them to a personalised greeting message and a music clip.
The new system will identify a recorded tune and make available a clip from the offical track to recipients of users' text messages.
Shazam marketing director Vijay Solanki said: "Songmail is a great way to use the immediacy and popularity of SMS to allow people to share their feelings instantly."
