The programme, which will be shown live for the first time in its 18-year history, will give viewers the chance to choose which lucky contestant should be picked to go on the blind date.
Viewers will be invited to vote by send a short-code message followed by 'girl' or 'boy' and the contestant's number.
Granada decided to inject interactivity into the Blind Date format based on the success of programmes like Popstars: The Rivals, one of many reality TV shows that has used wireless services to encourage its viewers to interact to determine the outcome.
Meanwhile, Flytxt has also appointed James Harker-Syren as its new CTO, taking over from Thomas Schuster, who becomes director of technology. Harker-Syren joins from CRM developer Kana Software, where he was a senior director of engineering and responsible for a team of 24 developers.
