Energis secures new Freeserve contract

The deal, thought to be worth around £150m a year and 20% of the firm's revenue, covers network and hosting services for pay-as-you-go and unmetered internet access.
The move follows Energis' takeover in July by a bank-led consortium chaired by former Asda chairman Archie Norman. Freeserve's co-founder and chief executive John Pluthero, who is believed to have played a major role in setting up the deal's extension, then moved across to the firm a few weeks later.
Norman claimed the move showed that the firm's customers had not been scared off by its difficulties - a concern raised after Freeserve pulled its deal for metered internet access with Energis in December 2001.
He said: "Freeserve is a very demanding and rapidly growing customer with outstanding technical capability. We are delighted our partnership will be continuing."
