Sony today said it will launch the European arm of its online gaming network in spring 2003, supported by around a dozen online-compatible games from publishers such as EA, Eidos and Capcom. Its broadband gaming pack will retail in the UK for around £45, and will contain an ethernet adapter, game and start-up disk. The company, which will not charge users to play PS2 games online, said it will make the broadband packs as flexible as possible, so that gamers can access online games via a large number of European ISPs. Microsoft will launch its Xbox Live service in the UK in March, while Nintendo has not yet revealed any intentions for Europe.
