Following on from T-Mobile's recent similar deal with Starbucks, the move has seen public wireless LANs installed in Costa outlets to allow business people to log on to the internet while away from the office.
The shops involved are based on Cannon Street, Houndsditch, New Bridge Street, Silk Street and Cowcross Street. The rollout of BT Retail's 'openzones' began in June with the installation of the first wireless network at the Hilton at Heathrow.
The company now claims to have 36 live sites across the UK including Welcome Break service stations and the Bluewater shopping centre, and is aiming to have 70 up and running by the end of the year.
At locations, it is selling airtime through £6 one-hour passes or subscriptions starting at £20 per month for 300 minutes.
