Vodafone completes Vizzavi takeover

The company, Europe's largest telecoms operator, paid EU142.7m in cash to acquire Vivendi's 50% stake in the business, adding to the 50% Vodafone already owns.

The portal has struggled to make an impression despite massive investment and the two companies decided earlier this year to shift its model to become a portal aimed solely at Vodafone users.

Vodafone said the purchase will support the launch of Vodafone Live!, a new consumer service, later this year.
