The company, which appointed Hugh Rodam - Hilary Clinton's brother - to its board in May, will unveil SMSDaters to the public on 5 September. Described by OIS as "a cutting-edge mobile dating service", SMSDaters will target the 15-30 year old single community, using SMS to match users to each other based on pre-determined criteria.
Subscribers fill out a personal profile on the SMSDaters website and can communicate anonymously to other users by mobile phone, which link directly to the web-based system. OIS believes the wireless, location-based service will allow for "many impromptu coffee dates".
OIS CEO Kristian Gjerding believes Rodham's high-profile will give the company access to opportunities that otherwise might not have been available, and his appointment "sends out a strong signal of credibility" to the market. The company expects to enter into "high-level media partnerships" in the coming months.
