US mobile giant Motorola is to cut 7,000 more jobs amid the ongoing downturn in the fortunes of telecommunications equipment suppliers. The move, taking the company's workforce to below 100,000 from a peak in 2000 of 150,000, will be accompanied by around £2.3bn in charges and comes as Motorola faces a 10% decline in sales from last year. They also follow Motorola's announcement in March that an additional 7,000 jobs were to go by the end of the year. However, the company now says that its downsizing is now largely complete.
