Doherty was one of the driving forces behind Reality, arguably Scotland's most successful internet start-up which was sold last year to Great Universal Stores for 70m.
Now she is hoping to repeat the success with the new firm, called 2fluid, which has been given a substantial investment by the Simple Minds singer, after the success of the original Reality group - a B2B web consultancy and design group taken under the wing of GUS as its logistics arm.
Doherty, who reportedly received 3m from the sale of Reality, said she felt the new service would be a success in a marketplace she conceded had endured a rough time in the last year.
“I believe there is demand for a company that combines contemporary design with the ability to deliver quality work on time and within budget,” she said at the company's launch.
Kerr, who is being tipped to introduce his contacts from the music industry to 2Fluid's services, said he had made a significant investment from his own reputedly 40m personal fortune to help start up the company, though he declined to give exact figures.
