The new service, Tesco Access, has been developed for the digital TV provider to open up its Tesco.com service to a broader range of customers.
Viewers will be able to enter the site, tesco.com/access, through ONnet to browse 40,000 grocery items, including an extensive range of packaged, frozen and fresh produce. In addition, items such as CD's, DVD's, home and electrical goods will be added soon after launch.
From this week, ONnet, the internet set top box, gives customers the chance to shop from home without having a PC. To use the service, customers need the ONnet box and cordless keyboard available on loan to subscribers for 8 per month.
Tesco.com claims to have nearly 1m registered customers and takes 70,000 orders per week worth over 6m.
