Global online audience nearly 400m

According to the Nielsen//NetRatings survey, active internet usage in March rebounded from a February drop, growing nearly 4% to 211m people.

The month also saw an e-commerce battle brewing between eBay and Amazon.com, as eBay's unique audience grew by nearly 4m people to a total of more than 22m people - bumping eBay from the number 15th slot in terms of unique audience in February to number 11 in March.

eBay attracted more than 1.3bn page views in March with the average viewer spending an 1 hours on the site.

Yahoo! ranked first both in terms of unique audience size for March and in terms of page views, with more than 6bn page views over the month.

At the same time, Amazon.com's unique audience ranking dropped two places to number 12 in March.

South Koreans led the 21 markets measured by the Global Index in terms of page views for March, logging an average 2,164 over the month. In contrast, South Koreans spent the least amount of time on each page, while Australian users had the longest page view durations.

The UK ranked number 17 in the global index, attracting 479 page views per month and spending an average 45 minutes on each site. The average click-through rate in the UK is 0.49.
