The partners aim to give Stella the ability to respond to questions input in text format with audio or text responses. Kiwilogic's technology matches input strings with a stored lexicon and uses a database of rules to construct a response.
NLP software - which emerged from research in computational linguistics - is gaining ground as a tool to build enhanced interactivity into websites. According to Kiwilogic CEO Chris Ezekiel, bots improve stickiness, help cut the number of users abandoning e-tail sites before a purchase is completed and enhance the personalised feel of a site.
Kiwilogic recently partnered with Digimask, a developer of 3-D visual effects to work on an avatar that can be built from photos of users' faces.
