Giles English, director of Virtue Broadcasting said: “EMI has taken a minority stake in us, but I cannot say exactly how much.” EMI has been using services from Virtue Broadcasting for over two years, which has provided it with streaming, hosting, and internet production services.
Virtue Broadcasting competes with European internet broadcasters including Madge Networks and other American companies such as Akamai and Digital Island. But English said that Virtue Broadcasting differentiates itself from these content deliverers by its added services on top of the network layer.
He added: “We provide tracking and analysis from Lariat, which collects data on video streaming; as well as methods of accounting, pay per view and content syndication.” Virtue also provides DRM (digital rights management) technology from Microsoft, RealNetworks and its own bespoke encoding systems.
Virtue will be delivering a Neil Finn London webcast for EMI on February 4.
