Exodus adds caching services

CacheFlow is providing caching devices that cut down on direct access by users to servers hosted at Exodus data centres. They will be deployed in front of existing servers to cut down on user response times, increase performance times and enable websites to cope with more users.

According to Nigel Hawthorne, marketing director for EMEA at CacheFlow, companies usually deploy these caching boxes individually but the deal means that caching capabilities will now be offered as a service by Exodus to existing customers. He added: “It is a faster delivery mechanism and easier to deploy for ISPs as a service.”

The new service is expected to be available in Europe by the beginning of September, although customers will be able to receive the service if they request it specifically before that time. UK companies which are hosted in the US, such as Work24, a small business portal launched by ScottishPower and The Royal Bank of Scotland, will have access sooner.

Exodus has datacentres in London, Dublin, Amsterdam, with the latest opening in Germany earlier this month.
