Also, total members reached over 557,000, which was a 85% increase on the previous quarter end, with the latest member figures reaching 610,000 at the end of April.
The number of items listed for auction increased over 123% to 2.9m compared to 1.3m during the quarter ended December 31 1999.
QXL, which this month merged with German auction company ricardo.de resulting in a combined membership of 1.5m, claims these positive results will help consolidate its position as the leading internet auction house in Europe. This is further supported by its merger with Swedish auction service Bidlet AB, which gives it presence in Norway, Denmark and Finland.
