Frank Olsthoorn, project manager of World Online International, said this service will give World Online subscribers the most ‘powerful' messaging and voice service available from an ISP.
“We have combined all the products into one simple product that can be downloaded. World Online users can use Firetalk for free to send instant messages, voicemail and make conference calls. No one else is offering this type of service,” he said.
The pan-European company will offer these multi voice services free of charge to World Online subscribers. The technology can be downloaded from the WorldOnline.com site or World Online localised sites.
These services, which are currently being trialled, will be rolled out throughout Europe later this year. World Online users can use the technology to talk to each other as well as to others in Firetalk's worldwide network.
Firetalk Communications, which launched in October 1999, currently has over 800,000 registered users in 28 countries. Customers currently log on for around 70m minutes of free voice communication services each month.
World Online, which currently has 1.9m customers in 15 countries, has also recently signed deals with Cisco and Ericsson to deliver services over WAP phones. Its main rival, Freeserve, claims to have 1.9m active users in the UK.
