According to Novell, future management, portal and content services are to be mapped to the blueprint, and run on the most popular operating systems including NT, Solaris, Linux and NetWare and Windows 2000.
As part of this strategy, Novell said that its Internet Messaging System will be available on Solaris and Linux platforms.
The company continued its jaunt into all things web-related, announcing its instant messaging client, instantme, which will allow users to communicate with fellow users in realtime. In addition, users will also be able to chat with members of AOL's Buddy List Network.
The next version of instantme will integrate secure encryption and digital certificate capabilities and based on Novell's Directory Services and digitalme services, it will allow users to store contact information which can be accessed from anywhere on the internet.
The ability for more flexible access to information was also extended to wireless devices, as Novell, announced that it was making its messaging platform wireless access to Novell GroupWise&174 via AT&T PocketNet service for business customers.
