Kabel New Media has landed on the UK stage after recently taking over two new media agencies in Stockholm and Hamburg. Tina Kulow, head of corporate communications, said the group will now focus on organic growth in the UK while expanding its presence into France, Spain, Italy and Austria.

Kulow said: “We are looking to establish a network of entrepreneurs who will keep on pushing the business forward. We will be moving along with a fast expansion strategy based on acquisitions and organic growth.”

Kabel offers a range of professional services from strategic consulting, creative concepts, planning and production of interactive business and communication solutions. It also handles platform business, comprising the design and advertising, sponsoring and e-commerce of target group portals.

It has acquired 100% of K-Web, the Brighton-based creative agency which specialises in database integration and high-end graphical content. Its clients include Suzuki GB Plc, Paddington Bear, and Cisco Systems.

Aaron Lowe, marketing manager of K-Web, said this takeover will enable the agency to expand its services internationally. He said: “Clients can come to us whether they are in England, Germany or Sweden and will be able to offer them a bespoke and highly personalized service. This gives us so much more power to develop our capabilities.”

K-Web will be increasing its staff of 17 to 30 in the next year to position itself for UK expansion.

Last month, Kabel acquired 100% of Projector, the Stockholm-based new media agency, whose clients include Ericsson, Unilever and McDonalds. The business's management team will remain in place. Kabel also took over Vice Versa, the internet marketing agency in Hamburg, whose clients include Deutsche Post Express and Bacardi. The agency's business will be fully integrated into Kabel in Hamburg.

The group's main competitors, according to Kulow, are Swedish-based media agencies such as Iconmedialab. Kabel will also be watching Razorfish and Agency.com.
