TradeDoubler shuts Japan office, focuses on Europe

Digital marketing company TradeDoubler will be closing its operation in Japan as part of the final stage of its long term integration of the IMW Group.

The Japanese operation was a legacy asset of the acquisition back in July 2007, and is solely focused on selling keyword bid management technology – a non-strategic product for TradeDoubler.

The Japan office will close on 30 June 2010. Until this date, TradeDoubler will honour all remaining fixed term contracts with its local clients, but will not be renewing existing contracts or accepting new ones.

The company said the closing of Japanese operation has a non-significant impact on TradeDoubler’s total revenues.

“Our corporate strategy is focused on growing our successful online channels and expanding our market penetration on a pan-European basis,” said Björn Lindberg, COO for TradeDoubler. “We focus our offering in the areas of Affiliate Marketing, Ad Networks, SEM and SEO. The Japanese keyword bid management business was a tactical, non-strategic part of the IMW Group acquisition. The Japanese affiliate and ad networks markets are highly saturated.

“In addition, the extensive IT and infrastructure investments associated with a launch of our products are non-justifiable. Therefore, we are investing our sales and marketing activities in European countries which represent the greatest potential for new market growth and profitability. During 2010 TradeDoubler is preparing to enter at new markets within Europe,” Lindberg added.

In 2009, TradeDoubler rebranded The Search Works in the UK and France to TD Search, bringing it in line with the rest of TradeDoubler’s TD Search businesses across Europe, as part of the integration of the IMW Group.

With its extensive reach in 18 countries across Europe, TradeDoubler delivers 32 billion impressions per month, reaching 154 million unique users and generating 10 million leads every month. The Group offers unrivalled access to more than 76% of the European online audience through its publisher networks, which comprise more than 128,000 active website publishers and in excess of 1,700 advertisers.

Twitter is now a 'destination website' and that means it is gunning for Facebook, but cleverly avoiding a direct dogfight. It’s more an information network than a social network and so is offering much, much more. Tanya Goodin, CEO of search and social conversion agency Tamar comments…
