Facebook now has 150 million members using its social network, it was announced this week.
According to a message posted on the Facebook blog by founder Mark Zuckerberg, the social-networking site is now used actively by 150 million people, with almost half logging on every day.
"If Facebook were a country, it would be the eighth most-populated in the world, just ahead of Japan, Russia and Nigeria," said Zuckerberg. "Today, people of all ages - grandparents, parents and children - use Facebook in more than 35 different languages and in 170 countries and territories."
According to Facebook, there are more than 700 million photos uploaded to the site each month.
The average user has 100 friends on the site and 2.6 billion minutes are spent on Facebook each day.
