First-ever European CMO Council Summits attracts international audience World-class speaker line-up and interactive sessions stimulate debate

London , 10th August, 2005
– Europe’s leading lights in technology marketing are set to meet at London ’s Conrad Hotel this November at the first-ever annual summit of the European Chief Marketing Officer Council. (www.cmocouncil.org)

The CMO Council is an elite peer group of top technology marketing decision makers drawn from a wide range of technology and communications companies worldwide, of which 400+ are based in Europe . Membership is by-invitation-only and is limited to senior marketers in executive management positions.

With an agenda covering the art and the science of marketing, 100+ members of the CMO Council will be looking at ways to make their combined £25 billion advertising and marketing spend go further and deliver more.

The conference theme, ‘Perfecting the Art; Advancing the Science’ will be introduced by James Richardson, Senior Vice President and CMO of Cisco Systems who will address the need for technology marketers to balance marketing creativity with business accountability.

The one and a half day conference will also feature a stellar line-up of senior European technology marketers from companies including Adobe, Alcatel, Dell, IBM, Intel, Kodak, Microsoft, Nokia, and Unisys.

“This is a world-class programme of speakers from some of the most powerful and influential global IT companies,” said CMO Council European Director, Ian McCann , who is planning the conference sessions to be highly interactive by scheduling short presentations with plenty of time for group debates and Q&A sessions.
“This is not a quiet group,” he said. “This is a group that enjoys sharing opinions and debating approaches so it will be a lively event with no shortage of voices.”

The CMO Council was founded in Europe to provide the premier thought leadership and networking forum for the region’s technology marketers.  Already well-established in the USA , the CMO Council’s global membership now includes nearly 1,500 marketing decision makers from global IT organisations.  Launched in Europe in January of this year, European CMOs now account for almost one-third of the total membership.

CMO Council Founder and Executive Director, Silicon Valley-based Donovan Neale-May, commented:  “The CMO Council and its programme of activities fills a void.

“Technology marketers are often at the cutting edge of new techniques and initiatives and they need the platform that the Council gives them to discuss and expand on new ways of working and delivering marketing messages.

He added: ”The agenda for the European CMO Summit focuses uniquely on issues that are directly relevant to technology marketers across the region.  There is no doubt that the world-class line-up of speakers will challenge conventional thinking and the status quo; this will be the peer-level networking event for technology marketers in Europe .”

The European CMO Council Summit takes place at the Conrad Hotel on November 17 and 18.  For further information visit: www.cmosummit.org/London.
